What exactly does it mean to love, or be a friend to all human beings? Where does the idea and impulse come from? Who are the people who qualify as friends of humanity today and how does it relate to leadership?

To love or be a friend to all human beings is to not judge be comforting, kind non-prejudice, and caring. This idea and impulse comes from your mind or way of thinking, the nature in which you grew up in. People that qualify as friends of humanity are people who are kind, caring, non prejudice and open to all ideas. They relate to leadership because these are the people who others want to lead because they care. They show the leadership in many ways the way they guide with their choices they see everyone in a good life, for the best can be and encourage them.

Key Text:

“… unless it be that it recognizes that the race whose youth we are engaged in teaching is without the one great essential of elevation and progress- True Leadership- and that from the schools and colleges herre represented most come the true leaders of the people.”

“Indeed all organized effort betokens leadership, and upon the world’s leadership the seal of history has set the stamp and by that steal we know that leadership is true or false in proportion as it is true to God, Humanity and self.”

“The main requisites of such leadership are first, devotion to principle or courage of conviction.”

“Perseverance is the next great element entering into true leadership.”

“I will denominate self-control as the third requisite of true leadership”

“And while devotion to principle or courage of conviction, perseverance and patience, and self-control are the predominating requisites of true leadership, over and above them all–embodying the truest leadership–is a deep and abiding love for humanity.

It is this which inspires devotion to principle; ennobles perseverance; gives the divine patience and tenderness so necessary in dealing with ignorance, superstition, and envy; and strengthens and encourages self-control. The world has never witnessed a sublime example of love for humanity than that of our blessed Savior whose life on earth was spent in doing good. We cannot hope to equal the infinite love, tenderness and patience with which He taught and served fallen humanity, but we can approximate it. Only in proportion as we do so is our leadership true.”

These key text show that its more to being a leader this just Love of humanity. Even though love of humanity might be the of the biggest and most important part of being a leader but you need to have self-control. To be able to control yourself when it come people being rude or prejudice. Another is perseverance, being patient and persistent would show that you have time to gain what you think will help you lead.

What behaviors does your subject engage in that suggest they are a friend to humanity? Does this person seem happy/fulfilled in their friendship to humanity? Did this person need to overcome any hardships or hard feelings to be a friend to humanity?

My subject is my god father he is a friend to humanity in my eyes. He is kind to everyone look in the best for everyone no matter where they come from or how they treat him. He is fulfilled in with everything around him. He takes in human interaction and nature and shows love. He puts more love out to the world when the world is throwing out hatred. He never had any serious hardship but he is close to God and feel that people should love each other no matter what.

Why does Wells believe that love for humanity is necessary for leadership? Do you agree?

She believes this because to be a leader you have to love everyone no matter where they are from, their political views, social economics stance or their background. You have to be able to lead them despite your differences. This is important because how can you be a leader but judging those around you. A leader should help and guide people in the right direction not sit and judge because they don’t agree with those below them. You have to care for those that you lead, be selfless, and love. That’s why Wells believe to be that love for humanity is necessary for leadership.

Reading what Wells wrote made me realize a lot about the people in society, we do have a lot of people who has love for humanity and it show with this whole Movement of black lives matter or the movement in Nigeria, or for the muslim community, really any minority community. We all want to stop being oppressed but the white man we want help each other. We do love some of the white people but not those who oppress us. We try not to be violent and show them there are other ways but its not heard. The love for humanity isn’t easy because you have to be very forgiving but if you work on it, then it shouldn’t be hard. My godfather Mark shows me that every day. Someone in our life did him very wrong, but he still forgave that person time after time. He still loves this person and wishes them the best in life and wishes them no harm. That is love for humanity. Being able to see past the wrong and want that person to do better and get better. Knowing you can’t lead them but still trying from a distance.

Ida b Wells say that Jesus was the best example of love for humanity and that’s because he forgave those whose done wrong, die for everyone sins, and when tested for sins he stood strong even when he was weak. He broke bread with someone who turned against him and still forgave that person. Mark does things in the name of God and Jesus. He knows that if Jesus could forgive then he could too.
